On Mount Hood’s north side, Pinnacle Ridge Trail #630 climbs its namesake ridge in the Mount Hood Wilderness toward Wy’east Basin and Barrett Spur. It rises from the Pinnacle Ridge Trailhead, at about 3,720 feet, to the Timberline Trail #600 at about 5,760 feet, with alpine meadows and close views of the mountain’s snowfields near the top.
The lower half has a moderate grade. The upper half is steeper and narrower, with a boggy meadow where the tread fades for a bit. From the top, Dollar Lake and Eden Park make nearby side trips, and an 8.7-mile loop returns by Elk Cove Trail #631. A high-clearance vehicle is recommended for Laurance Lake Road.
