Hikers begin this Mount Hood Wilderness trail on a piece of the original Barlow Road, off Forest Road 3531 near Barlow Pass on Highway 35. After a short stretch through old-growth forest, Barlow Butte Trail #670 splits from Devil’s Half Acre Trail #482A and climbs 1.1 miles to Barlow Ridge, right under Barlow Butte.

A user path leads to the top of the butte for the best views: Mount Hood to the northeast, plus Mount Jefferson and the Three Sisters off to the south, though trees block some. Beyond the butte the trail runs 3.7 miles southeast through meadows to Barlow Road, but that section is unmaintained and very steep and rough near the end.
