Forest Service lands, roads, trails and recreation sites in the Grasshopper Fire area east of Mt. Hood are closed to protect visitors and firefighters. In effect through December 31, 2026.
Read the official closure orderCamp Windy Trail #685B is a 1-mile connector along the southwest edge of the Badger Creek Wilderness, a short link that ties Gunsight Butte Trail #685 to Badger Creek Trail #479 and leads toward Badger Lake. It starts on Forest Road 4860 at about 5,200 feet and can also be picked up at Camp Windy Campground.
Heading west into the wilderness, it climbs gently for 0.8 mile to cross Forest Road 3550, then goes 0.2 mile more to meet Gunsight Butte Trail at about 5,600 feet. Signs are scarce, so bring a map. To drive there, take Forest Road 3550 from Highway 35 for 4.2 miles, then Forest Road 4860 for 1 mile.
