The parking lot at Timberline Lodge is the jumping-off point for a cluster of trails on the slopes of Mt. Hood, on the Zigzag Ranger District. From Portland, take Highway 26 and turn left onto Timberline Road, which ends at the lodge. Some routes lead into the Mount Hood Wilderness, and there are interpretive exhibits here too.

Walk up behind the historic lodge for the Timberline Trail #600, and reach the Pacific Crest Trail #2000 from here as well. Out front, past the swimming pool and a ski lift, are the Glade Trail #661, the Mountaineer Trail #798, the Timberline to Town bike trail and the Alpine Trail. The trailhead has no restroom.
