Along Highway 35 on Mount Hood’s east side, Tamanawas Tie Trail #650B is a 0.4-mile link from Tamanawas Falls Trail #650A to Elk Meadows Trail #645. It heads northeast, rising from about 3,350 to 3,560 feet, and its main job is turning the falls hike into a loop of roughly 4 miles.

From the Tamanawas Falls Trailhead, cross the Hood River’s East Fork and walk East Fork Trail #650 north to Trail #650A, which crosses Cold Spring Creek and heads toward the falls. The tie branches off 0.2 mile before Tamanawas Falls. For the loop, descend 1.2 miles on Elk Meadows Trail #645, then take #650 south for 1.5 miles to return to the trailhead.
