Mazama Trailhead, in the Hood River Ranger District, is the starting point for the Mazama Trail, which heads into the Mount Hood Wilderness. The parking area fits around 10 small vehicles, and there are no amenities, restrooms or potable water, so come prepared.

From Portland, take Highway 26 to Zigzag and turn onto Lolo Pass Road (Road 18). After about 10 miles, go right on Road 1810, a rough road, for 5 miles, then right on Road 1811 for the last 3 miles. That works out to roughly 18 miles from Zigzag to the trailhead. From Hood River, the route uses Highway 35, Woodworth Road, the Dee Highway and the road toward Lost Lake to reach Road 18.
