Two trails begin at Dog River Trailhead in the Hood River Ranger District: Dog River Trail #675 and Surveyor’s Ridge Trail #688. It’s a parking lot right beside Oregon Highway 35, so you won’t need to wind along forest roads to find it.

From Hood River, drive about 20 miles south on Highway 35. You’ll go by the Hood River Ranger Station; roughly 5 miles beyond it, just before the highway crosses the East Fork of the Hood River, look for the lot on the left. There’s no drinking water, so bring your own, and check the official details above for facilities.
