Forest Service lands, roads, trails and recreation sites in the Grasshopper Fire area east of Mt. Hood are closed to protect visitors and firefighters. In effect through December 31, 2026.
Read the official closure orderUnderhill Trail #683 is a short, easy walk in quiet, remote country, starting near Underhill Campground, off Forest Road 44 (Dufur Mill Road). The route crosses Forest Road 4450, reaches a stairway, bridges Ramsey Creek, crosses Forest Road 4421, and then descends to meet Cedar Creek Trail #457 and Fifteenmile Trail #456, roughly 2.75 miles from the campground.
That junction makes it a handy link into a wider trail network, though the routes beyond are primitive and demanding, and signs are few. Volunteers with the 44 Trails Association help keep it maintained.
