Trillium Sno-Park and Trailhead is the jumping-off point for Trillium Lake, among the most visited places in Mt. Hood National Forest and busy both summer and winter. It’s in the Zigzag Ranger District, off US Highway 26 about 2.5 miles past Timberline Road heading east, with signs pointing the way to the lake.

Once snow arrives, people come to snowshoe and cross-country ski on trails that volunteers groom with help from visitor donations. A map board stands at the trailhead, and the lot holds roughly 200 cars as well as trailers. There’s no drinking water, so bring your own and pack out whatever you carry in.

Getting there

From Sandy, OR

  1. travel east on US Highway 26 to approximately 2.5 miles east of Timberline Road.
  2. Follow the signs to Trillium Lake.
