Timothy Lake has several day-use areas, among them Oak Fork, Pine Point, Stone Creek, The Cove, and West Shore. The directions here lead to The Cove, off Forest Road 57, which you reach from US Highway 26 by way of Skyline Road. The lake sits at about 3,200 feet in the Zigzag Ranger District.

The Cove is a good place for a picnic under tall conifers, a swim, or some shore fishing for trout and kokanee. Nearby trails, including the Timothy Lake Trail system, link toward the Pacific Crest Trail for hikers and bikers. There’s no boat ramp at The Cove, so boaters launch from spots like Pine Point. Expect vault toilets and no drinking water.
