Where the plowing stops on Cloud Cap Road (Forest Road 3512), Tilly Jane South Trailhead shares a small Sno-Park lot with room for about 20 vehicles. It’s in the Hood River Ranger District, reached from Highway 35 by way of Cooper Spur Road, and a signboard at the trail start shows a map.

From here you can reach the Tilly Jane Ski Trail, Tilly Jane Cabin and ungroomed backcountry routes in winter. The skiing is demanding, with skins needed for the climb and a moderate to steep descent, and markings may be faint since the 2008 Gnarl Ridge Fire. Cloud Cap Road makes an easier outing. No drinking water is available.
