Mt. Hood Meadows, in the Hood River Ranger District, has been a full-service winter resort since the late 1960s. Its North and South lodges are the base areas, with access to five lifts, gear rentals and demos, shops, restaurants, ski school for adults and kids, and daycare. There is also a slope-side medical center and the Sahale Lodge.

Summer brings scenic chairlift rides, guided hikes, camps and events. From Portland, take Highway 26 east to Government Camp, then Highway 35 north for 10 miles; from Hood River, it is 35 miles south on Highway 35. Columbia Area Transit runs a shuttle between Hood River and the resort, and Meadows offers motorcoach trips from Portland.
