Horseback riders make up much of the traffic at Gibson Prairie Trailhead, the main way into the Gibson Prairie Trail System in the Hood River Ranger District. Hikers use the trails too, and the area is a good place to look for wildflowers in spring and summer.
Trails from here include Show Pony Trail #425, Quarter Horse Trail #424, Mustang Trail #422 and Fox Trotter Trail #421. The volunteer Back Country Horsemen of Oregon lend a hand with trail upkeep. The lot holds 8 rigs pulling horse trailers, or 16 cars without trailers, and there is no drinking water.
