French’s Dome Trailhead is a dirt pullout on Lolo Pass Road (Forest Road 18), about six miles north of Highway 26 at Zigzag in the Zigzag Ranger District. A short trail drops downhill through the trees, and about 200 feet along you reach French’s Dome, a lone andesite crag on Mount Hood’s west side.

It’s a popular rock climbing spot with plenty of routes to choose from, and the top rewards climbers with a good view of Mount Hood. Parking is tight, with room for about ten medium-sized vehicles. There’s a seasonal restroom but no drinking water.
