Douglas Trailhead sits on Wildcat Mountain in the Zigzag Ranger District and starts Douglas Trail #781. Head west on it to reach Eagle Creek, or go east, toward McIntyre Ridge Trail #782 and Wildcat Mountain Trail #781F. Views over the Salmon-Huckleberry Wilderness show up near the trailhead and again at the old Wildcat Mountain lookout.

Fewer people hike here than on many trails, so solitude is easier to come by. The drive starts on US Highway 26 just east of Sandy and follows a chain of local roads, ending on SE Harvey Road at the parking area. From the lot, the trail heads downhill. Bring water, as none is available.
