Catalpa Lake Trailhead is a rustic, out-of-the-way starting point in the Hood River Ranger District. From here, Catalpa Lake Trail #535 leads into the Mount Hood Wilderness and on to Bonnie Meadows Trail #471. The trailhead sits on a dirt spur road, and its small parking area holds just two vehicles.
To reach it, leave US 26 at Cedar Burn Road, also called Forest Road 43, 41 miles east of Sandy, and drive 3.5 miles to Forest Road 2610. Follow that gravel road north for 0.75 mile, then carry straight along Forest Road 2610-250; the trailhead is 2 miles ahead. Bring water; there are no restrooms.
