Bottle Prairie Trailhead sits next to the Badger Creek Wilderness in the Barlow Ranger District and links into the 44 Trails System, including Lookout Mountain Trail #450, Eightmile Loop Trail #496 and Bottle Prairie Trail #455. It has parking for 8 vehicles and an info board, and it works for riders with horses or pack animals too. There is no restroom or drinking water.
From Oregon Hwy 35, turn onto paved Forest Road 44 toward Dufur. Follow it 5.3 miles, make the sharp right at Forest Road 1720 to stay on 44, go 2.3 miles more, then turn left on FR 4400-120 for 0.1 mile, 7.7 miles from Hwy 35 to the trailhead in all.
Getting there
From Sandy, OR
- From the ARCO gas station, drive almost 31 miles on Highway 26 to the junction with Highway 35.
- Take the exit to Highway 35 on your right and drive for 13.7 miles.
- Turn right onto paved Forest Road (FR) 44 toward Dufur.
- After 5.3 miles, FR 44 makes a sharp right for Camp Baldwin and Dufur at the junction with FR 1720.
- Continue driving on FR 44 for another 2.3 miles and turn left onto FR 4400-120.
- Drive 0.1 mile to park at the trailhead; there will be an infoboard.
From Hood River, OR
- Drive on Interstate 84 east and take Exit 64 toward White Salmon & Government Camp.
- After the exit, turn right on Button Bridge Road for Government Camp & Highway 35.
- Continue driving on Highway 35 toward Parkdale.
- Drive 26 miles and turn left onto Forest Road (FR) 44 toward Camp Baldwin and Dufur.
- After 5.3 miles, FR 44 makes a sharp right for Camp Baldwin and Dufur at the junction with FR 1720.
- Continue driving on FR 44 for another 2.3 miles and turn left onto FR 4400-120.
- Drive 0.1 mile to park at the trailhead; there will be an infoboard.

No motor bikes allowed.
All fees
Day use fee is $10 per vehicle per day at Knebal Springs.
Passes and permits
Day use: The $30 Annual Northwest Forest Pass is accepted as a form of fee payment.
Horses and pack animals
Horse/Pack animals are allowed at this site.
