A creek runs near Underhill Campground in the Barlow Ranger District, which used to be a designated dispersed campsite and sits right next to Underhill Trail. It has vault toilet facilities but no drinking water, so bring all you’ll need.
From Hood River, follow OR Hwy 35 south for 26 miles to Dufur Mill Road, also Forest Road 44, just past milepost 71, and head east about 12.2 miles to Forest Road 4450. From Dufur, take Dufur Mill Road west 5.1 miles, keep right at the fork, and go 9.5 miles more to the same junction. Leave the car off the road; the trailhead sits on its south side, about a quarter mile west of Forest Road 4450.
Getting there
From Hood River, OR
- take OR Hwy 35 south 26 miles, approximately 0.15 mile past milepost 71, to Dufur Mill Road (Forest Road 44).
- Turn left (east) on Dufur Mill Road and drive approximately 12.2 miles east to Forest Road 4450 and park off the road.
- The trailhead is on the south side of Dufur Mill Road, approximately 0.25 mile west of the junction with Forest Road 4450.
From Dufur, OR
- go west on Dufur Mill Road and after 5.1 miles take the right fork to stay on Dufur Mill Road (Forest Road 44).
- Continue on Dufur Mill Road for 9.5 miles to Forest Road 4450 and park off the road.
- The trailhead is on the south side of Dufur Mill Road, approximately 0.25 mile west of the junction with Forest Road 4450.

Single Site: $10 per night

Passes and permits
Interagency Senior or Interagency Access Recreation Passes provide a 50% discount to single campsites only.
The discount applies only to the fee for the campsite physically occupied by the pass holder, not to any additional fee or campsite(s) occupied by members of the pass holder's party.
