Riverside Campground is a rustic camp beside the Wild and Scenic Clackamas River in the Clackamas River Ranger District. Nearby trails suit hikers, mountain bikers and horseback riders, and Riverside Trail #723 starts in the campground near the overflow parking, running to Rainbow Campground. River fishing is another draw.
The campground and trail lie inside the 2020 Riverside Fire burn scar. Some sites have little shade, so a pop-up canopy helps, and it pays to watch for burned trees, eroded slopes, missing trails, mudslides and flash floods. Expect vault toilets and no drinking water. From Estacada, drive about 26 miles on Highway 224, then about 2 miles on Forest Road 46.
