Anglers, cyclists and rafters all use Rainbow Campground as a base on the Wild and Scenic Clackamas River. It’s in the Clackamas River Ranger District, 26 miles from Estacada on Highway 224/Road 46. Rainbow Day Use and Trailhead is inside the campground and starts the Riverside Trail, which links to Riverside Campground.

After the Riverside Fire, the campground was repaired and many facilities were replaced, but the trees will need years to grow back. Shade is scarce, so a pop-up canopy helps. In the burn area, watch for fire-damaged trees, eroded slopes, missing trail sections, mudslides and flash floods. Toilets are vault style, and there’s no drinking water.
