Walk-in campsites line the southern edge of Laurance Lake at Kinnikinnick Campground, about 7 miles from Parkdale in the Hood River Ranger District. The setting makes up for the extra effort, with good views over the water, rock and hill formations all around, and bald eagles spotted here regularly.

Fishing and picnicking are the main pastimes, and a boat ramp at the nearby day-use area gets paddlers and other non-motorized boats on the lake. Vault toilets are provided, but there’s no drinking water. The drive in on Clear Creek Road and Forest Road 2840 is very rough, and glacial melt can wash out the Eliot Creek crossing, so come in a high-clearance vehicle.
