The Salmon River carved the canyon where Green Canyon Campground sits, and its day-use area puts you right beside the river among old-growth trees. It’s in the Zigzag Ranger District, about four miles south of Highway 26 on Forest Road 2618, which turns off roughly a mile past Wemme.

Day visitors come to picnic and fish the river, and hiking trails nearby include routes into the Salmon-Huckleberry Wilderness. Facilities are simple: vault toilets and no drinking water, so bring what you’ll need for the day.
