Armstrong is a small campground on the bank of the Clackamas River, a designated Wild and Scenic River, in the Clackamas River Ranger District. Its campsites are roomy and suited to families, and the river flows right past them, so there’s lots of access for fishing. Picnic tables and vault toilets are provided, but there’s no drinking water.

From Estacada, it’s 15 miles east on Highway 224. The Riverside Fire damaged the campground and burned parts of the area around it. Watch for weakened trees, eroding slopes, mudslides, flash floods and sections of trail that might have vanished.
