Boulder Ridge Trail starts at Wildwood, the Bureau of Land Management’s recreation site off US Highway 26, and heads into the Salmon-Huckleberry Wilderness from the west. It climbs steadily up a forested, north-facing slope, a 2,600-foot gain in 3.7 miles, and tops out on the ridge where it meets Plaza Trail #783.

From the ridge you can look over the Salmon River Valley and across to Mt. Hood. Back at Wildwood, shorter interpretive trails suit visitors of varied interests and abilities. The trailhead, shared with the Wetlands Boardwalk and Cascade Streamwatch trails, is reached by Wildwood Mainline Road, which leaves US 26 about 15.2 miles east of Sandy. There is no drinking water.
